Raphael Grignani

Raphael GrignaniRaphael Grignani is Director of User Experience at Method in San Francisco.

Prior he founded Nokia’s Bay-area design studio in 2008 where he lead a multidisciplinary design team that worked across the Nokia organization to clarify and translate business opportunities through design.

Raphael also designed products and concepts like the S60 Contacts Bar and Nokia Lifeblog, that have gone on to be used by hundreds of millions of people, and devised long-term strategic concepts such as Homegrown, which addressed how environmental and social issues may influence approaches to designing for mobility in the coming years. Before joining Nokia in Helsinki in 2002, Raphael was part of the dotcom adventure in Europe.

Raphael earned a Master of Arts from the University of Art and Design, Helsinki, Finland in Product and Strategic Design. He participates actively in the design community through mentoring students, writing for design publications and speaking at international conferences on the role of design in addressing environmental and social issues; most recently at Lift Korea, UPA international conference, AIGA Design Conference, and Kyoorius DesignYatra.
